Beginning in Mesopotamia...
Beer started off its long journey of influencing the world in around 10,000 B.C.E. in Mesopotamia. The discovery of beer was said to be an accident that occurred while collecting barley. When ancient people were collecting wheat’s such as barely they placed them in pots and continued harvesting. It is believed that one day when they were collecting barely in a pot, it rained, and after a few days caused the barely to ferment and create the alcoholic beverage. The people were said to have enjoy this beverage and started to create more and more. This truly marked the start of the agricultural revolution, which most believe started because of bread, but now it is believed that it was actually beer. They now believe this because scientists have found beer residue in jars from about 3,000 years before they discovered bread. Beer became a sensation and more and more farms started growing barely for the creation of beer. Some even believe that math, measurement, and even the written language came about because the need to measure land for the cultivation of barley and for writing down and keeping track of the amount of beer that was being traded threw writing. In fact, the first written language has over 160 different words for beer.
